Hiking in Lori-Dsegh (1 day)

In the morning we will move from Yerevan to the birthplace of Armenian writer H. Tumanyan, Dsegh, lost in green and mountains. Our first stop will be the house-museum of the poet. After strolling around the museum we will go to neighboring Saint Grigor Lusavorich church where H. Tumanyan’s father, Ter Tadevos, saved as a clergyman.
Then we will hike to the Monastery of Forty children rich with records and icons standing since 13th century which, unfortunately, is half-ruined now. The way to the monastery passes through beautiful narrow roads typical to the nature of Lori.
After admiring the monastery and the surrounding we will continue our trip to the Monastery of Bardzrakash Saint Grigor (XIII century), which is devoted to Armenian first Catholicos Saint Grigor. The ancestral grave-yard of authoritative Mamikonyan family, the relics of cross-stones are also here. The monastery is adjacent to the river Marz and to reach there it is necessary to walk approximately 20 minutes.
Our next stop will be the great cross-stone with the name of Sirun Khach or Terunakan. In order to reach the cross-stone with 4.20 meters height, dated to 1251, there must be a 20-minute-hiking during which we can admire the magnificent nature. Our next stop of hiking is mesmerizing Lake Tsover, one of the pearls of Lori.
Discovering some of the “flowers” of Lori, in the evening we will come back to Yerevan with bright impressions.
